<p>Another mecca for footballers and a corner of the infamous ‘Golden Triangle’… but don’t let that put you off. Prestbury is a supremely pretty village whose bijou centre is peppered with black and white buildings and crumbly red brick cottages housing indie stores and restaurants. The underlying reputation of money, money, money in the mega mansions dotting its surrounds may be palpable, but in the village itself, life strums to a mellow, low-key beat.</p>

<p>To seek out the antithesis of the Bentley and Lamborghini mob, hunker down at the bar in the <a href="https://www.robinsonsbrewery.com/pubs/ye-olde-admiral-rodney-prestbury/">Ye Olde Admiral Rodney</a>, a solid old-timer boozer with low ceilings, cosy nooks and panelled walls. Breeze in here and expect smiley service and good pub food. Another great pub for rubbing shoulders with the locals is the <a href="https://legharmsprestbury.pub/">Legh Arms</a>, all crooked beams, brick walls and William Morris-style wallpaper. Locals slurp pints in the beer garden and the menu focuses on sophisticated pub grub. </p>



<p><a href="https://www.thecoast.uk.com/">The Coast</a>, meanwhile, has amassed a loyal following thanks to its Amalfi-coast-style dishes. You might not have the jaw-dropping views of Positano tumbling down the cliffside, but you will find exceptional dishes, such as seafood in a rich tomato broth and king prawns sizzling in nduja butter. Book in for bottomless brunch or hefty Sunday roasts at <a href="https://www.bridgecheshire.co.uk/">The Bridge</a>, though for fine dining, locals smarten up for modern British cooking at Bacchus where a bottle of Bolly is de rigeur on arrival. Stave off the hangover the following morning with a Full English, strong coffee and served-warm scones at Henry’s Café in <a href="http://www.henryscafe.co.uk/">The Old Post Office</a>.&nbsp;</p>

Many items have never been worn. There’s <a href="https://www.instagram.com/rococoprestbury/">Rococo</a>, a curated interiors store that’s always worth a mooch for anything from scented candles to accessories and side tables. <a href="https://prestburyflowers.co.uk/">Prestbury Flowers</a> ids your go-to for blooms. Hop in your car for less than 5 mins and you’ll arrive at <a href="https://brookhousefarmshop.co.uk/">Brook House Farm Shop</a>, an emporium to all things local, and nudge a little further north to <a href="https://www.thecheshirebutcher.co.uk/">The Cheshire Butcher</a> for prime meat reared on neighbouring Cherry Tree Farm.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-health-amp-wellbeing">HEALTH &amp; WELLBEING</h2>



<p>Just outside the village is the local NHS GP, Hope Cottage Surgery and Macclesfield District General Hospital is around 5 mins drive. <h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-community">COMMUNITY</h2>



<p>The celebs and footballers tend to keep themselves to themselves but that doesn’t mean the rest of the village hides away, from the twinkly Prestbury Village Christmas Fair to its annual Summer Fair, filled with artisan stalls, funfair, live music and punch and judy shows.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-nearby-attractions">NEARBY ATTRACTIONS</h2>



<p>It only takes around 4 mins to wander from one end of the high street to the other. But beyond this pretty little centre, lies the rural idyll of the Cheshire countryside. For an easy walk, pad down Bollin Grove and you’ll arrive at a section of the Bollin Valley Loop (the full route runs for 24 miles, all the way from Macclesfield into Partington), where the Bollin meets the Manchester Ship Canal. </p>



<p>Nearby is National Trust-owned Hare Hill, with its tended wooded garden and parkland. The dozing village of Mottram St Andrew sits 5 mins away by car, criss-crossed by dozens of walking trails, many of which end up at The Bull’s Head, Mottram whose sun-trap terrace is always worth a quick pit-stop pint. Head east and the Peak District unfolds with its wild moorland and jagged hills.</p>

<p>Manchester’s theatres, from <a href="https://thelowry.com/">The Lowry</a> to the <a href="http://palacetheatremanchester.net">Palace Theatre</a> are just half an hour away by train. Whilst over in neighbouring Macclesfield, you can catch blockbusters and indie films at the <a href="https://cinemac.org.uk/">Cinemac Cinema</a> and wander around <a href="https://www.thesilkmuseum.co.uk/">The Silk Museum</a> that relays the history of the thriving silk industry that once dominated the area. And 15 minutes’ away, the grand stately house of <a href="https://capesthorne.com">Capesthorne Hall</a> (above) hosts a whole raft of events throughout the year, including outdoor cinema, classic car shows and homage to the Eighties, Rewind Festival.</p>

<p>Trains from Prestbury rail station take commuters into Manchester in around 30 mins on the fast train. Travelling to London Euston? Switch at Macclesfield and the journey takes around 2 hrs 15 mins.&nbsp;</p>
