Didsbury House Hotel

Discover why this characterful boutique pad needs to be on your bucket list

Didsbury is Manchester without the grit. One of the city’s most sought after suburbs, it’s leafy and buoyant, drawing creative types to its thriving independent scene that’s firing on all cylinders. And on its fringes you’ll find the Didsbury House Hotel – spruced-up boutique in a grand Victorian villa – perfectly pitched to truly get under the skin of this neighbourhood. Inside, interiors align with the original period features of the townhouse, from statement velvet seating to bold wallpapers and parquet flooring.

There are a handful of different rooms of varying sizes, but most come with characterful interiors and a crisp and calm aesthetic. It’s the sort of place you’ll drop your bags and flop into one of the roll top baths, with a side of Champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries post-massage.

Downstairs there are plenty of pockets of calm, whether you pitch yourself beside the fire in the lounge,  nab a table on the outdoor terrace, or hunker down at the bar. And you don’t need to look elsewhere for dinner either, with a kitchen rustling up pub classics throughout the day.

Just a little further away is its sister properly, Eleven Didsbury Park, a supremely pretty townhouse smothered in climbers with a dreamy garden out the back. There are just 20 rooms, too, each of which have all the hallmarks of a deeply stylish yet wonderfully affordable stay.
