The Nest, by Three Wrens Gin
Three Wrens might craft its small‑batch spirits on a quiet Cheshire estate, but The Nest in Nantwich is where the magic happens – a fully working distillery and enduringly cool cocktail bar

Mosey on over to the Combermere estate in south Cheshire, and you’ll discover Three Wrens Gins – the small-but-mighty craft gin distillery putting this quiet corner of the county firmly on the drinks map. Founded in 2019 by former cocktail bartender and drinks guru Nick Wadeson, the multi-award-winning, family-run spot has since picked up serious buzz for its inventive, hyper-local spirits.
Everything here is done by hand, from distilling to bottling and labelling, using Cheshire spring water and homegrown botanicals plucked from their very own kitchen garden. The line-up ranges from a juniper-forward Original Dry (13 botanicals, including noble fir, lemon balm and apple mint) to crowd-pleasers like Apple Crumble Gin — hello Cheshire apples, toasted oats and cinnamon — plus Bison Grass Gin and a steady stream of seasonal, small-batch experiments.
But if the distillery is the beating heart of the operation, the team’s innovative bar, The Nest, is where things really take flight – part working distillery, part grown‑up playroom, and a terrifically cool spot to pull up a pew and order a stiff drink (or three).
Inside, it definitely feels like a buzzy neighbourhood hangout: with a remarkably detailed drinks’ list running from signature serves and classic cocktails to local beers, thoughtfully-sourced wines, Champers, and pours of every Three Wrens gin and rum. There’s even a solid low- and no-alcohol offering if you’re pacing yourself. Three Wrens Pepper Street Gin is distilled exclusively on site here and has already bagged a coveted Gold Medal at the Global Gin Masters, so your G&T comes with bragging rights built in.
You can book a table online, and if you want to go all out, there are tutored gin tastings, hands‑on gin‑making sessions, and even afternoon tea – all built around the brand’s small‑batch, Cheshire‑made spirits. See you at the bar, people! Mine’s a Margarita!
