Treehouse Hotel Manchester

Escape the ordinary at this hip and playful hotel in Manchester

Hip and playful, Treehouse Hotel Manchester opened its bucolic doors in March last year, becoming the second UK outpost of the brand — and the critics haven’t stopped talking about it since. Bringing its signature sense of cool and escapism to the city, Treehouse feels happily unpretentious, with much of the fun centred around all-day dining spot Pip. Orchestrated by the ingenious Mary-Ellen McTague — former Fat Duck chef and the culinary brains behind Manchester favourites Aumbry, 4244 and The Creameries — the restaurant hums with almost theatrical energy while championing low-waste, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

Head upstairs in this free-spirited bolthole, and you’ll discover nature-led interiors and rooms nodding to childhood fantasies of hideouts and tree-top dens — just with far better beds, a buzzy atmosphere and properly good cocktails. Rooms vary from cosy kings to vast studio suites with killer views across the city. And the result is a place that feels both spirited and considered — a treehouse in the heart of Manchester, but with grown-up credentials.

Fancy a night in? The hotel has its very own cinema where you can curl up in hefty, velvet seats to while away the evening. If you’re looking to burn up a sweat, there’s the all-frills gym or you can book in for a game of padel at covered courts at The Pollen Club, just next door. And not one to rest on its good-looking laurels, the hotel it set to unveil its new Southeast Asian dining experience in the summer, Sister Moon, by Sam Grainger – the chef behind city faves, Madre and Medlock Canteen.
