<p>Comedic rising star <a href="https://thelowry.com/whats-on/111//tatty-macleod-fugue">Tatty Macleod</a> takes to the stage on Sat 23 Nov, promising a night of witty cross-Channel observations. Down at Crewe&#8217;s Lyceum Theatre, the Moldovian Crown Ballet will be pirouetting across the stage for a one-off performance of <a href="https://trafalgartickets.com/lyceum-theatre-crewe/en-GB/event/dance/swan-lake-performed-by-the-crown-ballet-tickets">Swan Lake</a>, on Sun 24 Nov. And another of Tchaikovsky&#8217;s classics, <a href="https://www.quaytickets.com/thebrindley/en-GB/shows/the%20nutcracker/events/3">The Nutcracker</a>, will be popping up at The Brindley in Halton on Tues 19 Nov. One for the kiddies (and those of us who loved Will Ferrell in a pair of tights) <a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/elf-the-musical/palace-theatre-manchester/">Elf The Musical</a> is already being performed at the  Palace Theatre &#8211; last day is Sun 17 Nov so catch it while you can.</p>



<p>Up for something terrifying? We&#8217;ve already bid farewell to Halloween for another year but the acclaimed <a href="https://brioentertainment.org/event/most-haunted-live/">Most Haunted</a> team, led by Yvette Fielding, will be scaring audiences silly at Nantwich Memorial Court on Fri 22 Nov, with tales of phantoms in haunted castles and unexplained goings-on in abandoned hospitals and prisons.</p>

<p>Who needs the rink at the Rockefeller? The glittering <a href="https://skatemanchester.com/">Skate Manchester</a> returns to Cathedral Gardens from Fri 8 Nov until New Year&#8217;s Day. And the mammoth Manchester Christmas Markets arrive on the same day, roasted chestnuts, bratwurst and all. </p>



<p>Follow the scents of cinnamon and mulled wine through the maze of higgledly piggledy stores at the vast <a href="https://www.visitcheshire.com/whats-on/chester-christmas-market-p223731">Chester Christmas Market</a> in the shadow of the cathedral. From Fri 15 Nov to 22 Dec. </p>



<p>Quarry Bank Mill turns cinematically festive this month as the <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/cheshire-greater-manchester/quarry-bank/events/ca014fac-9a36-4827-9cc7-4d702bb57b0d?origin=search">Enchanted Winter Walk</a> returns on 28 Nov, all twinkly lights, hot chocs and sleigh spotting. And <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/cheshire-greater-manchester/quarry-bank/events/ac563bff-a6ad-4225-af05-e8fcc549c638?origin=search">Father Christmas</a> will be turning up with a sack of pressies too from Sat 23 Nov.</p>

<p>The leftfield lights, neon walkways, fire gardens and twinkly trails at <a href="https://www.chesterzoo.org/lanterns-and-light/">Chester Zoo</a> are back for the festive season with an enchanting soundtrack courtesy of Sony Music. All kicking off on 15 Nov. As is the iconic after-dark <a href="https://premier.ticketek.co.uk/shows/show.aspx?sh=LANDDMT">Christmas at Dunham Massey</a> which just seems to get better every year.</p>



<p>Journey over the rainbow, well, to the grand stately rooms of <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/cheshire-greater-manchester/tatton-park/events/e42ab93b-9ef6-4273-8b56-a27f2b1283b1?origin=search">Tatton Park</a> from Sat 23 Nov, that have had whimsical makeover inspired by the Wizard of Oz. Also kicking off in the grounds of the mansion is the <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/cheshire-greater-manchester/tatton-park/events/69bba235-98f9-4c9e-a9dd-702e1d8d133a?origin=search">festive grotto</a> at the farm, where little ones can make their own reindeer food and huddle up in santa&#8217;s sleigh.</p>



<p>The big man in red and Mother Christmas will be meeting-and-greeting little ones with pressies (no plastic tat) at the <a href="https://livehistory.co.uk/event/the-original-father-christmas-dickensian-grotto-at-the-grosvenor-museum/">Grosvenor Museum</a> on 30 Nov in their Dickensian grotto. </p>



<p>Ok so this is officially December, but you&#8217;ll want to sign up early for the <a href="https://www.chestersantadash.com/">Chester Santa Dash</a>. Anyone over the age of 5 can slip on their Santa suit (sent to you before the event), and dash through the city streets, raising cash for The Hospice of the Good Shepherd and the Countess Charity.&nbsp;Sun 1 Dec. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-already-gone-this-month"><strong>ALREADY GONE THIS MONTH</strong>&#8230;</h2>



<p> Catch the legendary <a href="https://www.storyhouse.com/whats-on/ruby-wax-im-not-as-well-as-i-thought-i-was/">Ruby Wax</a> (Wed 13 Nov) rocking up to the Storyhouse as part of her brilliantly funny and heartwrenching I&#8217;m Not As Well As I Thought I Was tour. Hollywood actor, writer and director <a href="https://www.storyhouse.com/whats-on/mackenzie-crook/">Mackenzie Crook</a> (though we adore him as Gareth in The Office) will be on stage on Mon 11 Nov, chatting about his musical hero, Nick Drake. Plus poet <a href="https://www.storyhouse.com/whats-on/luke-wright-joy/">Luke Wright</a> questions whether a 42-year-old can actually feel unbridled happiness on Thurs 7 Nov at the Garret Theatre. Over at The Lowry this month, acclaimed historian <a href="https://tickets.thelowry.com/en-GB/shows/an%20audience%20with%20lucy%20worsley%20on%20jane%20austen/events">Lucy Worsley</a> will be dipping into the world of Jane Austen on Sat 9 Nov &#8211; the literary great who, it seems, wouldn&#8217;t settle for anything less than Mr Darcy. Fancy yourself as a gardener? Catch Monty Don on stage talking all things green fingered on Sun 10 Nov.</p>



<p>Oh how we love <a href="https://parrhall.culturewarrington.org/whats-on/simon-reeve-to-the-ends-of-the-earth/">Simon Reeve</a> here at Muddy. The traveller, author and TV presenter will be appearing at Warrington&#8217;s Parr Hall on Thurs 7 Nov, regaling stories from his wildly inspiring To the Ends of the Earth tour. He&#8217;ll also be at Chester&#8217;s Storyhouse on Fri 8 Nov. </p>

<p>It&#8217;s the last few days to catch <a href="https://www.storyhouse.com/chester-literature-festival/2024-programme/">Chester Literature Festival</a> lands and its roll-call of authors and comedians and poets including an Audience with Lucy Worsley (15 Nov) and a night with stand-up <a href="https://www.storyhouse.com/whats-on/shaparak-khorsandi-scatterbrain/">Shaparak Khorsandi</a> will be offering up glimpses into her self-dubbed scatterbrain on Sat 16 Nov, both at StoryHouse Theatre. Critically acclaimed Bristol Old Vic production of <a href="https://thelowry.com/whats-on/95//wonder-boy">WONDER BOY</a> plays in Friday 15 to Sat 16 Nov &#8211; the soul-stirring tale of adolescence, that&#8217;s hilarious and devastating in equal measure.</p>
