We already know how blooming&#8217; brilliant Chester is. Cobbled streets and dreaming spires, historic pubs and blooming gardens, plus its very own amphitheatre. In fact, I reckon Chester is one of the north’s greatest under-the-radar cities.&nbsp;But that&#8217;s not just our humble opinion. 



According to <a href="https://news.booking.com/bookingcom-reveals-the-worlds-most-welcoming-cities-for-2025/">Booking.com</a>, Chester is the UK&#8217;s most welcoming city, beating the likes of Newry in County Down, Newcastle and Haworth in West Yorkshire to the top spot. And it is the only UK city to feature in its 10 Most Welcoming Places on Earth list for 2025. Joining the likes of the dreamy Thai island of Koh Lanta, the adventure-centric region of Urubici in Brazil, and the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya in Sri Lanka which scooped the top spot, good ole Chester was hailed a &#8216;historic gem&#8217;. 



Part of the thirteenth edition of the&nbsp;<a href="https://news.booking.com/bookingcoms-traveller-review-awards-2025-recognize-a-record-171-million-partners-and-unveil-the-years-most-welcoming-destinations/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Traveller Review Awards</a>,&nbsp;the digital travel company draws up the ranking based on the number of Traveller Review Awards each has. A spokesperson for Booking.com said: &#8220;known for its friendly locals and vibrant community spirit, Chester exudes a warm, inviting charm that leaves visitors feeling truly at home.&#8221; Well, we&#8217;re not gonna argue with that! As flattering as this accolade is for Chester and Cheshire as a whole though, it shouldn&#8217;t come as surprise. This is a city that brings all the fun stuff to the table whilst feeling small, interesting and tranquil. Just mooch about its cobbled backstreets of curiosity shops or along its ancient city walls and you’ll quickly fall for its creaky-beamed pubs, burgeoning food scene and lively cultural calendar.&nbsp;
