<p>That&#8217;s right. The long-anticipated launch of the free-spirited <a href="https://www.treehousehotels.com/manchester">Treehouse Hotel Manchester </a>has finally come and its doors will open 19 March. And we&#8217;ve no doubt this extraordinarily unique bolthole will make its mark on the Manchester scene, thanks to nature-filled interiors and rooms designed like quirky wooden playgrounds. Occupying a space on Blackfriars Street, this newbie is exactly the sort of place to seek out if you dreamed of hiding away in a treehouse when you were a kid &#8211; though one drawing a party crowd and killer cocktails. As for food, there&#8217;s been a lot of buzz about the new green-leaning <a href="https://cheshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/life/people/whats-cooking-mary-ellen-mctague-of-pip-manchester/">Pip</a> with Mary-Ellen McTague at the helm. <p>Can you feel that? Spring is in the air, which means summer and picnics and music festivals are just around the corner. And whilst Glasto will always be the bees knees, there are some cracking music festivals happening right here in Cheshire. Returning to the Ashley Showground for the second year is <a href="https://thebritfest.co.uk">The Brit Fest</a> (3-6 July), with headliners Razorlight, UB40 and Badly Drawn Boy on the bill. And this being a British fest, there&#8217;s of course space for campers, motorhomes and all-frills glamping pods. Bringing the kids? Filled with a freewheeling spirit, the festival brings together a haul of kiddie entertainment, from silent discos to fairground rides and play areas (and of course face painting is de rigueur). Cold plunges, saunas, Tai Chi and sound baths, meanwhile, take care of mindfulness when you need a break from the buzz. Day tickets from £55; weekend passes £145; The Brit Fest Club is £1,250 for groups of 10 with guaranteed seating, exclusive shelter, private bar access, and premium facilities.</p>

<p>Fellow bookworms! How much do you love pottering around a bookshop? Scanning the shelves and leafing through just-released hardbacks and novels on your must-read list. Even better when it&#8217;s an independent. And especially when it&#8217;s just been named one of the best in the entire country. Yes my friends, the indie emporium of <a href="https://www.simplybooks.co.uk">Simply Books</a> in Bramhall scooped up the award for the best bookshop in the north in <a href="https://www.thebookseller.com/awards">The British Book Awards 2025</a>. One of nine winners across the UK, it&#8217;ll be put forward for the overall winner of Independent Bookshop of the Year, to be announced in May. We have our fingers and toes tightly crossed for the team, Karen Johns, Ben Johns, and Jess Quann, who took over the bookshop last year, and have since transformed Simply Books into a spirited hub, where literary lovers can pick up books of almost every genre, whilst grabbing a coffee. They also had the brilliant idea of creating a wine bar and launching regular events with author talks and meet-and-greets; next month you can catch bestseller <a href="https://lu.ma/clairemcgowan">Claire McGowan</a> (<em>The First Girl</em>) on <strong>18 April</strong> and the chart-topping, bestselling author of <em>GIRL A </em>and<em> DAY ONE</em>, <a href="https://lu.ma/abigaildean">Abigail Dean</a> on <strong>16 April</strong>.</p>

<p>Ah the Nineties! A time of Cool Britannia and seamlessly synchronised dance routines. When starry-eyed teenagers across the UK obsessed over Mark Owen et al and Geri Halliwell iconically strutted on stage to <em>Who Do You Think You Are</em> at The Brits in her barely-there Union Jack dress. If you love a bit of Nineties pop, hotfoot it to <a href="https://royalcheshireshow.org">The Royal Cheshire County Show</a> this summer, where high-energy tribute performances to The Spice Girls, Gary Barlow, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams will light up the stage on <strong>Tues 17 June</strong> in the &#8216;Late at The Show&#8217;. Hosted by local radio station, Happy Radio UK, it&#8217;ll be one helluva colourful throwback. Adults, £20; children, £10; kids under 5 go free. </p>
