<p>There&#8217;s a lot to love about the growing foodie scene in Knutsford. Tucked away in restored Georgian and Victorian buildings, in one of the prettiest town centres in Cheshire, is a collection of creative restaurants doing truly wonderful things. Here&#8217;s our pick of where to eat in Knutsford&#8230;</p>

<p>I&#8217;m always surprised more people haven&#8217;t heard about Sigiriya because I&#8217;ve been dreaming about its prawn and lemongrass dish ever since my last visit. Leaning on Sri Lankan cuisine to curate its menu, the kitchen crew have developed a collection of dishes far beyond anything that&#8217;s rustled up in your bog standard curry house. Plates are expectedly fiery, humming with plenty of black pepper, chilli and coconut. Arrive hungry, order a couple of the small plates before sharing the generous larger curries, scooped up with buttery naan and all washed down with cocktails drawing on Far Eastern spices. Every dish is a bit of a revelation and it makes you wonder why there aren&#8217;t more Sri Lankan restaurants around. </p>

<p>You don&#8217;t need me to tell you how brilliant this neighbourhood restaurant is. Chef patron Chris Boustead (of London’s Opera Tavern and The Ten Bells) and Laura Christie (behind Oklava in Shoreditch),&nbsp;opened this London-born passion project in Knutsford in 2023. Inventive small plates, refined dishes and cult wines have truly put Linden Stores on the foodie map, without a whiff of stuffiness or pomp. Beloved by the cool crowd and the foodie writers, this one truly deserves all the hype.</p>

<p>One of last year&#8217;s most exciting openings, &nbsp;<a href="https://www.lilyrestaurant.co.uk/">LI~LY Restaurant</a> is the new and highly anticipated cooking venture from acclaimed chef Aiden Byrne. This is a man who earned a Michelin star at the grand ole age of 22, whipped up a culinary frenzy at Manchester House and earned legions of fans whilst helming the kitchen at The Church Green in Lymm. Here at <a href="https://www.lilyrestaurant.co.uk/">LI~LY</a>, the kitchen changes the menu every month, inspired by seasonality with a focus on local suppliers, and diners are falling very quickly for its seasonal six-course set lunch and nine-course set dinner. </p>

<p>For hearty, feel-good food you&#8217;ll want to return to again and again, make a beeline straight to this Knutsford cult classic that could easily pass for some tucked-away tapas joint in Madrid. Dozens of wine bottles are piled high behind the bar, the lighting’s low and waiters beaver about from kitchen to table and back again. My advice? Go for the <em>menu del dia</em>, or lunch menu, offered every day except Saturday, giving you a select three tapas dishes for a bargain £14.50. Just make sure you save room for the crumbly almond cake, too.  </p>

<p>A large, contemporary space, all jungly plants and chilled beats on the speakers, this all-day dining joint focuses on fresh and invigorating ingredients, whether you arrive first thing, or hunker down here at night. If you do nab an evening table, expect generous and nourishing plates that bring a smile to your face, from picky bits (nachos, buttered Tandoori prawns) to large dishes of sea bass and chorizo or great hulking bowls of nasi goreng. It&#8217;s unfussy, honest cooking served in a super friendly setting.</p>

<p>Calling all carnivores. A great big blast of authentic Americana, this smoky, darkly lit space is a prime cut for anyone with a penchant for big and bold meaty plates. Beautifully cooked slabs of steak, hanging skewers, hickory smoked chicken and low and slow-sizzled pulled pork smothered in a Deep South-style rub and barbecue sauce &#8211; is your mouth watering yet? Plus some of the most magnificent burgers in town, chicken and waffles and plenty of punchy sides, from crunchy, zingy slaws to smoky pulled pork and beans. You&#8217;ll go up a belt size &#8211; but it&#8217;ll be worth it. </p>
