<p>The technicolour trail has landed back in Gulliver&#8217;s, dolling up the theme park with more Christmassy lights and glowing lanterns than you can shake a stick at. Step forth along its paths and you&#8217;ll be greeted by a whole host of kaleidoscopic animals through its whimsically lit Fantasy Forest, Winged Warriors and Ice Kingdom realms. Feeling the chill? Kiddies can warm up with hot chocolates and bags of chips. And you can even take your pooch along the trail on certain dog-friendly dates. <strong>Sat 9 Nov &#8211; Sat 4 Jan</strong></p>

<p>Knowsley is notorious for those pesky monkeys who like to clamber over your car and snap your wind screen wipers. Stay well clear and head instead to its winter village, a twinkly, marshmallow-scented wonderland, where rosy-nosed walkers gawp at illuminated animals and snap photos in its glittering light tunnel. Little ones can even post their wishlists to Santa and catch some of his elves hard at work. <p>Even if the thought of the jam-packed Trafford Centre at Christmas makes you want to curl up into a tiny ball, this magical trail is one very good reason to brace the crowds. Expect bright lights, enchanting installations and a dreamy soundtrack from the same crew that creates Mayfield Park&#8217;s <a href="https://www.twilighttrail.co.uk/">Twilight Trail</a>. As for food, Freight Island are hosting a pop-up, which means cracking street food style plates, plus KIDS EAT FREE. <strong>Fri 8 Nov &#8211; Thurs 2 Jan.</strong></p>

<p>Of course we&#8217;ve already mentioned the twinkly, hot-chocolate-fuelled lights trail at Dunham Massey in our November What&#8217;s On guide. Because it&#8217;s so blimmin&#8217; good! Magical forests and ho-ho-hoing, mulled wine and marshmallows. Basically all the festive clichés you can think of. It ain’t cheap, and the kids will drain your purse dry when you pop out at the fairground towards the end. <p>Move quickly if you fancy this one as the fantastical event is on for just four nights (17-20 Dec). Glittering lights, mulled wine and Christmas shopping all in the shadow of the Lovell Telescope. And a surefire highlight? It has to be a special screening of <em>The Snowman</em> in the Space Dome. <p>This vast kiddie&#8217;s adventure playground has had an almighty festive makeover for the winter months. Arrive after dark to wander along its glittering paths, strung with fairy lights and dotted with snowman, candy canes and a giant Christmas pud. <p>About as enchanting as it gets, the verdant gardens of Tatton Park have been dusted with snow and folklore for this seasonal shindig. Expect fire jugglers, live music, shapeshifting snow hares and winter witch goddesses along the way, all designed by Wild Rumpus, the leftfield enterprise which puts together the family-focused Just So Festival. <p>The formidable gardens at Bridgewater have had a proper festive glow up, from shimmering yew domes to light tunnels and paths where fairy lights fall to the path like snowflakes. Catch the Moonlight Gardener as he juggles glowing birds and levitates glass orbs, and you might just recognise the voice of good ole gardener Alan Titchmarsh as he narrates &nbsp;<em>Jack Frost – A Winter Story</em> along the way. For those of you (Muddy included) who are gutted the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest Experience won&#8217;t be returning to Arley Hall, this illuminated trail does a damn fine job of doling out magic to the same patch of woodland. Weave along the mile-long path, beneath the vast luminous canopies and among its glittering light installations before pulling out a bag of marshmallows to roast over the fire pits. <strong>Sat 30 Nov &#8211; Tues 24 Dec</strong></p>

<p>Bigger and brighter for 2024, the sparkle has landed back at Blakemere Village for the Christmas season.
