<p>For somewhere gloriously unique, how about bedding down in this former 19th-century water tower? Over seven years and via three architects the dilapidated tower was reimagined into a design-heavy home with a prevailing sense of contemporary cool and became the subject (and a favourite) of Kevin McCloud’s <em>Grand Designs</em>. And guests can now stay in the penthouse suite, striding up the private spiral staircase and arriving in an all-white space that feels like a secret sleepover. A state-of-the-art sound system, mood lighting and tranquil lounge are all a part of this remarkably calm and visionary space. But the real trump card is the palm-dotted roof terrace you’ll have all to yourselves, with heartmeltingly beautiful surroundings and a bubbling hot tub.  </p>
