Somewhere that feels deliciously remote but is actually close to creaky-beamed pubs or packed-to-the-rafters farm shops to refuel after days of walking or cycling, or quite frankly, pruning in the hot tub. <p>For a genuinely off-grid feel, look to this Danish cool cabin in the wilds of Tarporley. There&#8217;s a hot shower, fluffy towels and space for four thanks to a bunk bed you can pull out. But it&#8217;s a dreamy little space if it&#8217;s just the two of you, with a king-size bed opening to bucolic views of the rolling hills and woodlands. And that&#8217;s the thing about Tawny: you&#8217;re in the thick of this pretty patch of Cheshire, surrounded by hikes and pubs and cycling trails. <p>If you&#8217;re after something a little roomier with a few added frills, this wood-pitched cabin is still available for seven nights over Christmas and the New Year&#8217;s Eve. And all you need to know is that it&#8217;s got a hot tub bubbling away on its outdoor decking. <p>If you like the idea of feeling like a lady of the mansion for a few days, move quickly to bag a stay at this Edwardian cottage. Ok, so it&#8217;s not quite a mansion. But the lodge does sit in the sprawling grounds of the Lyme Park estate. And you&#8217;ll have its sweeping parklands, vast woods and miles of rural loveliness to stomp about in.
