<a href="https://www.devafest.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Deva Fest</a> is back! James Morrison is one of the kingpin acts at this gargantuan family fest in the green grounds of Cholmondeley Castle. Bag tickets and you’ll also be belting out the lyrics to Boyzone classics with Ronan Keating and dancing wildly to a DJ set from Symphonic Ibiza and Jessie J’s rollicking performance, which will close the festival. All this, plus silent discos, street food stalls, fairground rides, circus workshops, kiddie play areas and magnificently, Dee River Kayaking will be bringing along their gear for some waterbound fun. Farm off the kids with your other half and you can book in at the Gin Journey for a tasting – and drinking – session, too. And this being a family music festival, the crew behind it won’t raise eyebrows if you bring in your own picnic and soft drinks. Camping and glamping available, too. 6-9 Aug.

Still a raver at heart? Sling on your hot pants and sunnies and hotfoot it to Daresbury where&nbsp;<a href="https://creamfields.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Creamfields</a>&nbsp;will be landing for its 2026 shindig. Rightfully synonymous with some of the biggest dance acts in the country, Creamfields has grown into a four-day mammoth party. Where starry-eyed festival goers eat, sleep, rave, repeat to the sounds of electronica. As for the line-up? Calvin Harris, Underworld, Tiësto, Swedish House Mafia, Faithless and many more have all been announced. This one’s going to be insane.&nbsp;27-30 Aug.



More of a rock chick? Better bag last minute tickets to <a href="https://www.firevoltfestival.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Firevolt Festival</a>&nbsp;(7–9 August), for three days of hard‑rock and blues at Whitebottom Farm in Stockport. Expect high‑octane bands, flowing booze, food stalls, and maybe a mosh pit or two. Camping is available and there are even hot showers and proper loos.

 <a href="https://www.chesterpride.co.uk/chester-pride-event" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chester Pride</a> will be bringing the love to the city on Sat 15 Aug with its famously feel-good parade and all the glittery chaos that follows. Expect drag royalty, live music, market stalls, family fun zones, and more rainbow flags than you can shake a prosecco at. There&#8217;s even a Health, Life &amp; Wellbeing zone if you fancy a bit of mindfulness between the mayhem. And then there&#8217;s <a href="https://www.skiddle.com/festivals/manchester-village-pride/#lineup" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Manchester Pride</a> &#8211; a full-throttle, glitter-strewn extravaganza of parades, parties, protest, and pure queer joy spread over the August bank holiday weekend (28-31 Aug) that’s loud, proud, and unmissably Manc. 



Something of a foodie? Then pencil in <a href="https://www.nantwichfoodfestival.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nantwich Food Festival</a> (4-6 Sep) &#8211; a deliciously rowdy weekend of celeb chef demos, street food galore, live music, and foodie-fuelled fun &#8211; all in the heart of the pretty market town. Plus, it&#8217;s absolutely FREE to enter. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-family-days-out">Family days out</h2>



Over in Knutford,&nbsp;<a href="https://thelambingshed.com/pages/the-beach-1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Beach&nbsp;</a>is returning to The Lambing Shed – a huge indoor sandpit, where kiddies shovel and dig and run wild over golden sand, whilst coffee-slurping grown-ups wallow in deckchairs. All this plus creamy scoops from an ice cream bike, classic lawn games, and a pop‑up food shack serving spuds with lavish toppings (coronation chicken, pulled barbecue pork). No booking needed – just show up, grab a wristband, and release the beasts. Entry is £4.95 per child, with adults and babies under 6 months free.



Get ready to journey back in time at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bents.co.uk/p/dinosaurs-in-the-hidden-garden-smev0001/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bents’ brand-new summer experience</a>, running&nbsp;until 6 Sept. Follow a winding trail through the Hidden Garden where giant dinosaurs will be towering overhead and poking their faces through the foliage. Designed for explorers big and small, it’s a fun-filled trail with hands-on challenges and prehistoric adventures along the way — making it one of the standout family experiences landing this summer. Running from&nbsp;31 July-16 Aug, Afterglow returns to&nbsp;<a href="https://www.chesterzoo.org/events/afterglow" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chester Zoo</a>&nbsp;making the most of long, hot summery evenings with fairground rides, roaming puppets, festival food and live performances.

I really love the idea of Storyhouse on the Park &#8211; a summery alfresco wonderland on Grosvenor Park, brought to you by our cultural faves, <a href="https://www.storyhouse.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Storyhouse</a> &#8211; from theatre under the stars to wood‑fired pizza, frozen cocktails, comedy gigs, family crafts and Moonlight Flicks cinema nights. Pack your sunnies… but maybe sneak in a brolly, just in case.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.storyhouse.com/seasons/moonlight-flicks/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Moonlight Flicks Open Air Cinema</a>&nbsp;is all starry chick flicks, including Mamma Mia, Moulin Rouge, Legally Blonde, Labyrinth and Wicked For Good.&nbsp;9-31 Aug. Live theatre, meanwhile, includes Let the sun shine(10 Jul – 23 Aug) and Outlaws: A Robin Hood Story (3 July-23 Aug), played out in the balmy evening air. As for kids, you’ll want to sign your little ones up to&nbsp;Peter Pan: a walkabout theatre experience&nbsp;(28 Jul-15 Aug), filled with magical characters popping up in the park and a colourful finale in the open air theatre.

At Manchester&#8217;s Palace Theatre, the epic&nbsp;<a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/miss-saigon/palace-theatre-manchester/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Miss Saigon</a>&nbsp;lands (4-8 Aug) for a limited run with its soaring score and heart-wrenching love story, before&nbsp;<a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/jersey-boys/palace-theatre-manchester/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jersey Boys</a>&nbsp;brings the irresistible hits of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons to the stage from 7-19 Sep. Plus <a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/peppa-pigs-big-family-show/palace-theatre-manchester/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Peppa Pig’s Big Family Show&nbsp;</a>rolls into town&nbsp;(14–15 Aug), with baby Evie Pig’s live stage debut as the whole family gets ready for a new arrival.



The international smash hit musical&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thelowry.com/whats-on/six-6z3b" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">SIX</a>&nbsp;makes its royal return to The Lowry this summer&nbsp;(1–15 Aug), remixing 500 years of Tudor heartbreak into an 80-minute celebration of 21st century girl power. Little ones are just as well catered for, with&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thelowry.com/whats-on/in-the-night-garden-4gg3" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">In the Night Garden Live</a>&nbsp;(5–9 Aug),&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thelowry.com/whats-on/dear-zoo-l21g" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dear Zoo</a>&nbsp;(11–16 Aug), Disney’s&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thelowry.com/whats-on/high-school-musical-nk2f" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">High School Musical</a>&nbsp;with Jason Donovan&nbsp;(21 Aug–19 Sep)&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thelowry.com/whats-on/cbeebies-house-party-live-554n" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">CBeebies House Party LIVE!</a>&nbsp;– featuring Mister Maker, Dodge, George Webster and Duggee –&nbsp;(29–30 Aug).



For something a little different, the Bridgewater Hall hosts <a href="https://www.bridgewater-hall.co.uk/whats-on/emerald-storm-040926/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Adam Garcia&#8217;s Emerald Storm</a> (4 Sep),&nbsp;promising an electrifying fusion of Irish dance, music and high-octane choreography.



And at Chester&#8217;s Storyhouse, catch&nbsp;the lift-the-flap&nbsp;<a href="https://www.storyhouse.com/whats-on/tales-from-acorn-wood/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tales from Acorn Wood Live!</a>, based on Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s stories&nbsp;(4–5 Aug). There&#8217;s also <a href="https://www.storyhouse.com/whats-on/mapa-school-of-rock/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">School of Rock&nbsp;</a>(13-15 Aug) on stage, while anyone who knows every word to a Broadway soundtrack won&#8217;t want to miss&nbsp;<a href="https://www.storyhouse.com/whats-on/broadway-rave/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Broadway Rave</a>&nbsp;– a joyful, sing-your-heart-out musical theatre party celebrating the biggest show tunes of all time

April Wild is the freewheeling force behind <a href="https://www.wildandwild.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wild &amp; Wild</a> &#8211; Cheshire’s pioneering women-led community crew, hosting soul‑boosting meet-ups, from networking brunches to empowerment workshops, helmed by a host of inspiring speakers like brain‑health guru Liz Curphey. This month she&#8217;s launched a <a href="https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/simha-wellness-wild-wild-retreat-tickets-1987255732391?aff=ebdsoporgprofile" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">luxury retreat</a> (30 Aug) day at Brook house Farm with yoga, sound healing and guest speakers. And on 4 Sep, a <a href="https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/wild-wild-horse-connection-club-equine-wellness-experience-tickets-1994246932258?aff=ebdsoporgprofile" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">dreamy horse wellness experience</a> in Congleton. A truly unique experience. 



Elsewhere, <a href="https://batesfarm.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bates Farm</a> over in Croft is hosting a sushi pop up, with spicy margs, Aperol and beers, plus live music, top-notch coffee and a clutch of street food stalls. Next one is 15 Aug.
