<p>Love life in the water? Ok, ok, so Cheshire is no coastal resort. But by god, when the sun does shine and the heat haze dances on the horizon, it&#8217;s one helluva place to be. And there are handful of truly tranquil places to cool down, whether you fancy a revitalising dip in the cool waters of a lake, or a long, languid afternoon dangling your legs in one of our tucked away swimming pools. Here&#8217;s our guide to the best outdoor swimming spots in Cheshire. </p>

<p>Quite possibly the HQ of wild swimming and all things wellness in Cheshire, <a href="https://www.thefarmclub.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Farm Club</a> sits on the fringes of Pickmere and hosts cold water sessions with lifeguards, as well as yoga classes, sound baths and euphoric dancing. Sign up to their Wake &amp; Shake (yoga, breathwork and cold swimming) and join its loyal following of dry-robe-wearing devotees who come to lie in its outdoor (heated) teepee after dips in the lake, warming up with a hot cacao. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-manley-mere"><a href="https://www.manleymere.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Manley Mere</a></h2>



<p>Closer to Frodsham? Open water swimming is very much back at <a href="https://www.manleymere.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Manley Mere</a> for the summer season &#8211; a serene lake that&#8217;s also set itself up as an aquatic centre. Kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing and windsurfing are all on the bill. And its thrilling inflatable aqua park reopens on <strong>3 May</strong> &#8211; where you can dive, slide and bounce around its obstacles. Oh, and of course you can swim here, too &#8211; away from the buzz of the aqua park for a proper revitalising dip.</p>

<p>Arrive at this pool on a balmy summer&#8217;s day, and you&#8217;ll catch salty-haired swimmers dangling their legs in the water and catching a few rays on the sidelines. One of only a handful of brine pools in the UK, it opened in 1935 with waters kept at a delicious 22C. Just make sure you book in advance (Everybody members will be able to book eight days in advance, and seven days in advance for non members), because this is one spot that&#8217;s always wildly popular.</p>

<p>The catch to this outdoor pool in Marbury Country Park is you have to be a member of its swimming club. But if you do manage to get in at this beaut of pool, well, you&#8217;ll be laughing all the way to the deep end. Ringed by a tangle of woodland, it&#8217;s open every day until September, and on a scorcher of a day, it&#8217;s absolutely the place to be, adored for its diving boards, children&#8217;s paddling pool and mini play area. </p>

<p>Drive to the farthest point on the Wirral, and you&#8217;ll arrive at Leasowe Bay &#8211; a golden sweep backed by low-lying sand dunes and hazy grasses. There&#8217;s plenty of scope for swimming when the tide is in, and magnificently, it&#8217;s also the home of <a href="https://detoxwirral.co.uk/products/appointment" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Detox Wirral </a>&#8211; a balmy beachside sauna with paddle boards for hire, too. Open just around the hours of high tide, so you’re not having to traipse a long way after a chilly dip, it’s filled with the scent of aromatic essential oils. And they also rustle up their very own coconut body scrub to exfoliate your skin. <a href="https://detoxwirral.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sessions</a> are just £10 and are for 45 minutes.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-wild-shore-delamere"><a href="https://www.wildshoredelamere.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wild Shore Delamere</a></h2>



<p>Love life in the water? Landlocked we may be, but <a href="https://www.wildshoredelamere.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Delamere’s Wild Shore</a> is the next best thing to the big deep blue. And it’s officially open for the season. Though it&#8217;s not just swimming that&#8217;s on the agenda here. Fancy paddleboarding with your buddies? Or how about wakeboarding? And then there&#8217;s the phenomenally fun aqua park that&#8217;s quite rightly the highlight, where life-jacket-wearing punters bound over inflatable towers and whizz down slides. It ain&#8217;t sexy! But it&#8217;s so much fun. </p>

<p>You might not know it, but you can swim in the lake overlooked by the resplendent Mere Resort. Though only on special organised days. Park up at the hotel and head towards the lake around the back, where <a href="https://www.uswimopenwater.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">USwim</a> (one of the longest established open water providers in the UK) organises wild swims in its cool waters (dates TBC). No screaming kids. No water slides. Just sheer serenity in a setting that&#8217;ll drop those cortisol levels pronto. Boundary Water Park is another of USwim&#8217;s venues in Crewe, and its team will take you swimming there on Thursdays (5-7.30pm) and Sundays (10-1pm).</p>
