<p>The Michelin Guide Great Britain &amp; Ireland 2026 stars have landed – and while there are no shiny new additions for Cheshire or Manchester, it’s far from doom and gloom. Manchester’s culinary heavyweights <a href="https://www.skofmanchester.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Skof</a> and <a href="https://manarestaurant.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">mana</a> have both retained their one Michelin star, proving they’re still very much top of the class. </p>



<p>But food lovers seeking great value can raise a fork: Ancoats&#8217; fave,<a href="https://erst-mcr.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">&nbsp;Erst</a>,&nbsp;and Stockport’s&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cantaloupedining.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cantaloupe</a>&nbsp;have just been awarded&nbsp;Bib Gourmand&nbsp;status for excellent cooking that won’t break the bank.&nbsp;And for anyone&#8217;s who&#8217;s confused, Michelin awards come in three tiers. The coveted Michelin Stars (one to three) are awarded for truly exceptional cooking — the crème de la crème of what’s on the plate. Bib Gourmands, meanwhile, give a nod to restaurants serving seriously good food at more wallet-friendly prices. And then there’s the Michelin Guide listing: venues recommended by inspectors as well worth your time, even if they’re not sporting a star or Bib. <p>The ingenious crew behind <a href="https://intothewildbushcraft.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Into the Wild </a>&#8211; the outdoorsy adventure playground in a tangle of woodland &#8211; are spreading their wings and have unveiled their new little cafe. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/thelittlebollinhale/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Little Bollin</a> has now popped up on Park Street in Hale, a peachy-hued neighbourhood caff, dishing up spot-on coffee, ice cream, just-baked loaves and sourdough pizzas. Just the place to refuel after a day rampaging around the woods. </p>

A vast new food hall has just opened, Great Northern Market &#8211; a full-on celebration of the North’s street-food scene.
