<p>Grandeur, deer, and the hum of old money. Tatton’s where Regency fantasy meets influencer reality. Sprawl on a tartan rug lakeside, beneath ancient oaks while deer strut past, or tuck yourself away in the Japanese Garden if you&#8217;re craving a bit of zen. Our advice? Pop into <a href="https://cheshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/the-lambing-shed-farm-shop-kitchen/">The Lambing Shed</a> beforehand (10 minutes&#8217; drive away) to stock up on all your picnicky bits, though the sweeping views in this a thousand acre estate make even a humble sausage roll feel fancy.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-delamere-forest"><a href="https://www.forestryengland.uk/delamere-forest" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Delamere Forest</a></h2>



<p>Delamere is a green cathedral. Here you&#8217;ll find towering pines, sun-dappled clearings, and just enough wild to feel like an adventure (without sacrificing loo access or flat whites). And you&#8217;ll also stumble across a scattering of picnic tables within the tangle of trees for al fresco lunches far from the madding crowds. Bonus points for hiring bikes or hopping onto the Gruffalo Trail with the little ones in tow. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-edge-alderley-edge">The Edge, Alderley Edge</h2>



<p>The antithesis of the luxe that swirls around Alderley Edge, this iconic sandstone escarpment is a dramatic meeting point of myth, moorland, and ancient woodland. Paths wind past twisted yews and weathered outcrops, leading to Bronze Age burial sites, secretive caves and the mythical resting site of a sleeping army, hidden within the rock. For the best picnic spot, dangle your legs over the escarpment. But whatever you do, don&#8217;t leave without a cinnamon bun from the dreamy <a href="https://www.instagram.com/thewizardtearoom/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wizard Tearoom</a>. </p>

<p>Beeston Castle’s summit picnic is part medieval battleground, part romantic hideaway. Climb for the view through wildflowers and along woodland trails, where the Pennines and Welsh mountains unfold, and perch yourself overlooking the castle walls or on one of the benches in the park. You might even spot kestrels hovering overhead. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-ness-botanic-gardens"><a href="https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/ness-gardens/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ness Botanic Gardens</a></h2>



<p>Hidden on the Wirral, Ness Botanic Gardens is 64 acres of dreamy horticultural heaven — from wildflower meadows and exotic borders to secret paths that look as though they&#8217;ve been lifted from a <em>Bridgerton</em> set. Founded by a Victorian plant hunter, it&#8217;s a serene patch to wander through eucalyptus groves, follow the fragrant scents of jasmine, and gaze at Himalayan blooms, all whilst rolling out your picnic blanket. </p>
