<p>So you&#8217;re after spot-on coffee and a great wedge of cake? I know just the place. This little space is tucked away from the main drag of London Road in a disused car park. And thanks to down-to-earth interiors and cheery service, it&#8217;s the antithesis of the village&#8217;s glam reputation. Which is exactly why I love it. Curl up in corner, order a cake made by local creative, Pomelo Bakes, humous bowls or oozy toasties, and don&#8217;t forget to browse the collection of gifts and homeware, from dreamy dried flowers to art prints. Dogs are welcome, too. </p>

<p>If you revel in the brash and bling, book a table at the San Carlo offshoot next to the rail station, for authentic mounds of pasta and exceptional seafood (and celeb spotting!) The entire operation is a well-oiled machine, orchestrated by teams of waiters in ironed shirts and dickie bows dashing from kitchen to table and back again in a space overflowing with real swank. It might be swamped by instagramming glamourpusses, but the kitchen’s dedication to culinary refinement and excellent ingredients makes for an inspiring tour of Italy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Fancy a night with the glitterati?  Then it&#8217;s gotta be a table at Victors, where diners sit beneath trails of wisteria and graze on plates of sushi or slabs of Tomahawk ribeye. Much of the menu is Asian inspired and the seafood is particularly good, from the grilled sea bass and brown shrimp, to slabs of tuna tartare served lovely and thick with soy and lime. It&#8217;s flashy and gloriously over-the-top, but for any glamour pusses out there, Victors is the cat&#8217;s miaow. </p>

<p>This casual cool restaurant is evolving into something of a cult classic, drawing a whole spectrum of diners, from freelancers tappping away on laptops to a collective of fitness types floating about the place with matchas in their hands. Brunch is a big deal with dishes such as toms on toast, smashed avocado, and smoked haddock and leek rarebit. One of Muddy’s fave dishes? It has to be the buttered sourdough with slithers of Iberico ham, salty padron peppers, chilli and a fried egg. Wash it all down with a coffee, a kombucha, hell, a mimosa if you’re feeling jazzy. Though the lions mane latte has got our vote. </p>

<p>We may be a long way from Aussie shores, but Brook Lane Coffee Co takes its cues from the Aussie and Kiwi brunch scene. Warming bowls of porridge arrive to the table topped with spiced poached pear and honeycomb and a scattering of sesame seeds; there’s eggs benedict in all its guises (bacon, smoked salmon or mushroom) with rich dollops of hollandaise. And avo on toast is elevated with chilli and pickled onion. The team are passionate too about using local suppliers and pluck their bread from fifth-generation W Thatchers Bakery in Stockport, kombucha from Dunham Massey and all their meat from Brook House Farm in Mottram. </p>

<p>This is no ordinary caff. With an enchanting/hidden gem sort of vibe, the team work from a dinky white-washed space, rustling up classic breakfast-style dishes and cakes that taste as exceptional as they look, using ingredients from a host of acclaimed local suppliers. There&#8217;s no indoor seating, but plenty of tables and a handful of pods to  curl up in after a bracing walk on the Edge – no wonder it’s packed out seven days a week. </p>
