<p>So you&#8217;re after spot-on coffee and a great wedge of cake? I know just the place. This little space is tucked away from the main drag of London Road in a disused car park. And thanks to down-to-earth interiors and cheery service, it&#8217;s the antithesis of the village&#8217;s glam reputation. Which is exactly why I love it. Curl up in corner, order a cake made by local creative, Pomelo Bakes, humous bowls or oozy toasties, and don&#8217;t forget to browse the collection of gifts and homeware, from dreamy dried flowers to art prints. Dogs are welcome, too. </p>

<p>The former Gusto site on London Road has a new incarnation. <a href="https://firestationsocial.co.uk/locations/alderley-edge/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fire Station Social Cucina</a> is bringing a whole lotta Italian love to Alderley Edge following the success of its original outpost in Tarporley. Interiors are sparky and maximalist beneath a dreamy glass roof, whilst the menu is a veritable feast of Italian gastronomy: antipasti, fresh pasta, Napoli-style pizzas, beautifully cooked pieces of fish and spritzes aplenty. Plus there are bottomless brunches and Sunday roasts to be keep the crowds happy. The restaurant officially opened on 10 June – we’ll be nabbing a table on the sunny terrace very soon.</p>

<p>If you revel in the brash and bling, book a table at the San Carlo offshoot next to the rail station, for authentic mounds of pasta and exceptional seafood (and celeb spotting!) The entire operation is a well-oiled machine, orchestrated by teams of waiters in ironed shirts and dickie bows dashing from kitchen to table and back again in a space overflowing with real swank. It might be swamped by instagramming glamourpusses, but the kitchen’s dedication to culinary refinement and excellent ingredients makes for an inspiring tour of Italy. Plus the terrace is a little slice of Europe when the sun&#8217;s shining. </p>

<p>Fancy a night with the glitterati?  Then it&#8217;s gotta be a table at Victors, where diners sit beneath trails of wisteria and graze on plates of sushi or slabs of Tomahawk ribeye. Much of the menu is Asian inspired and the seafood is particularly good, from the grilled sea bass and brown shrimp, to slabs of tuna tartare served lovely and thick with soy and lime. It&#8217;s flashy and gloriously over-the-top, but for any glamour pusses out there, Victors is the cat&#8217;s miaow. </p>

<p>This casual cool restaurant has evolved into something of a cult classic, drawing a whole spectrum of diners, from freelancers tappping away on laptops to a collective of fitness types floating about the place with matchas in their hands. Brunch is a big deal with dishes such as toms on toast, smashed avocado, and smoked haddock and leek rarebit. One of Muddy’s fave dishes? It has to be the buttered sourdough with slithers of Iberico ham, salty padron peppers, chilli and a fried egg. Wash it all down with a coffee, a kombucha, hell, a mimosa if you’re feeling jazzy. Though the lions mane latte has got our vote. </p>

<p>Clearly, we&#8217;re not short on curry houses around this neck of the woods. But it&#8217;s certainly not a level playing field, and sometimes you have to dig a little deeper to find the space that&#8217;s upping the ante. Take this beauty on London Road, inspired by the arid desert state of Rajasthan &#8211; a land of maharajas and monumental forts, where tigers stalk the lush jungles and kaleidoscopic festivals light up the streets. Interiors are suitably full of swank as you&#8217;d expect from the village. But the cooking is truly standout &#8211; buttery and fiery street food plates; smoky skewers of monkfish; and it&#8217;s signature railway lamb, inspired by the historical railway kitchens and slow cooked so it falls off the bone with plenty of ginger, garlic and garam masala. Also worth noting, they run set menus on Mon, Wed and Thursday where two course are just £22; or three courses are £27. Or go on a Tuesday for Thali night, where you can feast on a Rajasthani thali from £23. </p>

<p>We may be a long way from Aussie shores, but Brook Lane Coffee Co takes its cues from the Aussie and Kiwi brunch scene. Warming bowls of porridge arrive to the table topped with spiced poached pear and honeycomb and a scattering of sesame seeds; there’s eggs benedict in all its guises (bacon, smoked salmon or mushroom) with rich dollops of hollandaise. And avo on toast is elevated with chilli and pickled onion. The team are passionate too about using local suppliers and pluck their bread from fifth-generation W Thatchers Bakery in Stockport, kombucha from Dunham Massey and all their meat from Brook House Farm in Mottram. </p>

<p>This is no ordinary caff. With an enchanting/hidden gem sort of vibe, the team work from a dinky white-washed space, rustling up classic breakfast-style dishes and cakes that taste as exceptional as they look, using ingredients from a host of acclaimed local suppliers. There&#8217;s no indoor seating, but plenty of tables and a handful of pods to  curl up in after a bracing walk on the Edge – no wonder it’s packed out seven days a week. </p>
