<p>Gelato purists will be blown away by the scoops served at this tiny takeaway in Knutsford. Totter up from The Moor park and you&#8217;ll spot the distinctive hatch, usually with a queue of hungry locals snaking up and onto King Street. Don&#8217;t be deterred though &#8211; get in line and you&#8217;ll be rewarded with some of the best gelato this side of Italy. Love your choc? It&#8217;s gotta be the intense chocolate &#8211; rich and thick and deep &#8211; and the zingy passionfruit is a kick of summer.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-seven-sisters-farm"><a href="https://www.sevensistersfarm.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Seven Sisters Farm</a> </h2>



<p>Pitched on Seven Sisters Road, and surrounded by rolling green fields, this self-proclaimed maker of posh ice cream uses milk from their very own herd of cows. On sunshiney days, ice cream-licking locals wander outside the back, letting the kids loose in the sandpit, lolling on the tyre swings and dashing into the maize maze during late summer, whilst grown ups perch on the wooden tables and gaze across fields. The epitome of country bumpkin life. As for the menu, this is where kid&#8217;s dreams are made, whether they go for straightforward scoops, or order milkshakes, smoothies, ice cream floats, waffles or ice cream wrapped in candyfloss. Just remember, they&#8217;re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.</p>

<p>Tucked away in Mobberley, this coffee shop-cum ice cream parlour whips up hand-crafted, small batch tubs of the cold stuff using milk from Davies Dairies in Ashley. There are plenty of swoon-worthy, classic flavours, from Heavenly Vanilla Bean and Milkiest Milk Chocolate; though the team, not one to rest on their laurels, are pros at summoning inventive flavours, such as Toasted Brown Sourdough, Chamomile Chardonnay, Jersey Black Butter and Roasted Cherry with Goat&#8217;s Cheese.&nbsp;Plus there are milkshakes, afternoon tea, homespun cakes and brekkie-style baps on the menu. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-ice-cream-farm"><a href="https://www.theicecreamfarm.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Ice Cream Farm</a></h2>



<p>To call this simply a farm is to undersell its appeal. Because The Ice Cream Farm is an all-out pleasure centre for little ones. Soft play, water fountains, mini golf, bouncy pillows, kids&#8217; racing cars and more keep the beasts happy. And the payoff for adults? Mountains of ice cream to choose from, made from the milk of local cows by Cheshire Farm in every classic flavour you can think of: from cherry, chocolate and coconut, to marshmallow, pistachio and unicorn. Up the ante too with its colourful toppings and cones. Don&#8217;t have the kids with you? Magnificently, the farm has its very own drive thru. </p>

<p>A stalwart in Cheshire, Snugburys started life in 1986 as a modest ice cream parlour in a reimagined barn. Though today, daughters of the founding husband and wife team, Hannah, Kitty and Cleo Saddler, have evolved the saccharine enterprise into one of the county&#8217;s greatest. It&#8217;s still very much a family affair and remains in the same converted barn, though the Saddler sisters have added a purpose-built dairy to keep up with the demand of their much-loved scoops. Of which the flavours are all sure-fire crowd pleasers: from ginger and honey to banana caramel and Turkish delight; or for a bit of ooh la la, go for crème brûlée.</p>

<p>For traditionalists, head over to Daresbury Dairy &#8211; a family-run modest farm who have been churning classic ice cream, using milk from their very own herd of cows, since 2011. Plucking the very best of local produce for their scoops, they&#8217;ve garnered a loyal following thanks to spot-on taste and a menu of classics, available from their bijou farm shop or via click and collect. </p>
