<p>If there were an award for Cheshire&#8217;s queen of pick-your-own experiences, Kenyon Hall Farm would be polishing the trophy cabinet. This sprawling family-run farm &#8211; open seven days a week &#8211; has turned fruit picking into a proper summer day out, with rows of strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries and blackberries available throughout the season. There are tractor rides and play areas too, plus a top-notch caff, making this a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for families. Just make sure you book ahead for strawberry picking as slots sell out fast! Entry costs from £5.95–£6.95 per person (under 18 months free) and includes approximately 300–350g of strawberries per person, plus access to any other available fruit and veg. Anything extra is paid for by weight.</p>

<p>Technically just over the Cheshire border, but we&#8217;ll happily bend the rules for somewhere this good. Bellis Brothers combines fruit picking with one of the best farm shops and garden centres around, meaning you&#8217;ll inevitably leave with far more than you intended. During summer the PYO fields come alive with bushes groaning with strawberries, raspberries and blackcurrants &#8211; and you can pick as many as you like, with prices starting from £5.99 for a kilo of blackcurrants. </p>

<p>A back-to-basics farm shop, sitting on the edge of its namesake farm, where shoppers comes to scoop up large vine tomatoes, homegrown new Cheshire potatoes, fresh eggs and a collection of plants. But they also grant access to its to strawberry fields, handing you over punnets and letting you loose amid the plants, charging £8 for a kilo. Keep an eye on their <a href="https://www.facebook.com/DelamereFarmShop/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Facebook page</a> for changes to opening times, but it&#8217;s generally 9am-5pm Tues-Sun. </p>

<p>This beautiful cutting garden opens for pick-your-own flower events throughout the growing season, giving floral-loving punters the chance to wander through its achingly pretty rows, plucking cosmos, zinnias, dahlias and all sorts of beauties for their very own bespoke bouquet straight from the field. Sounds like a winner to me. Upcoming pick-your-own flower events are Fri 10 July (7pm-9:30pm; Fri 17 July (7pm-9:30pm); Sat 8 Aug (10:30am-1.00pm), £65. </p>

<p>One of Cheshire&#8217;s lesser-known floral gems, Marsh Farm Flowers has all the secret garden feels. On select dates (<strong>18 July, 29 Aug</strong>) throughout the summer season, they pull open the gates to in-the-know visitors who stroll through colourful flower beds and gather armfuls of blooms to take home. The green-fingered crew have also teamed up with  local watercolour artist Susan Cowley <a href="https://instagram.com/artbysusancowley" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@artbysusancowley</a> for Pick and Paint workshops (<strong>25 July, 15 Aug</strong>), where you&#8217;ll pluck a bouquet of seasonal British flowers before painting the arrangement with watercolours. Hot drinks and homemade cake included!</p>

<p>A lockdown-borne enterprise that has slowly been rippling through the county with its British flowers. During summer the cutting gardens burst into colour, offering visitors the chance to pick everything from delicate sweet peas to show-stopping dahlias. There&#8217;s a distinctly English country garden feel here, with naturalistic planting and plenty of inspiration for your own borders back home. And they are open every weekend from 11-1pm for pick-your-own. <p>For something a little different, this flower farm-cum-rural escape might not offer pick-your-own events, but it does host a rotating cast of interesting workshops amid the rows of British-grown blooms. On <strong>18 July</strong> (£45), sign up to Flowers &amp; Flow &#8211; including slow vinyasa flow yoga, fresh juice, teas and snacks, a walk through the flower paddock, plus you&#8217;ll create your own seasonal jam jar arrangement. The flowers are grown with sustainability at their heart, and because they&#8217;re cut fresh from the field, they&#8217;ll often last much longer than supermarket bouquets. Bring your camera – the flower fields are seriously photogenic.</p>
