<p>A very grown-up, refined sort of stay, this barn, close to the village of Malpas, is every bit the countryside retreat. With space for up to six, its warm, traditional interiors lend themselves well to lazy mornings, long, lingering suppers and evenings spent curled up on sofas that seem to engulf every limb. As for the sprawling gardens, well, there&#8217;s plenty of space for the kids to run about whilst you dangle your legs in the (heated) swimming pool. <p>This former 19th-century water tower is like nowhere else in Cheshire.
